Public Consultation: eSafety Working Group on RTTI Draft Report Creation date: 01 February 2007 Real Time Travel and Traffic Information plays a key role in making journeys more efficient and comfortable, and reducing the driver's stress. It may also help in reducing congestion and preventing secondary accidents upstream. To maximise its effect, the RTTI Working Group of the eSafety Forum recommended in 2005 that 80% of the journeys in Europe should be covered by RTTI services by 2010.Within the framework of the eSafety Forum, the Working Group on RTTI has now elaborated a report presenting what is needed for the development and deployment of RTTI services in Europe. This report complements the RTTI Recommendation elaborated by the European Commission in 2001. The eSafety Working Group on RTTI invites all stakeholders to comment the present report, and to provide input by 20 February 2007. All comments will be analysed and a new final report will be made available soon after the end of this public consultation. On the basis of this report and the received input, the Commission may adopt an update of the 2001 Recommendation. Download the Draft Report: All comments should be sent to eSafety Support: info@esafetysupport.org by 20 February 2007. |
